Join our dynamic Buying team at FOM! We’re a tight knit group of Buyers managing a broad and diverse product portfolio and we need additional buying support as we surge ahead with exciting growth. We’re looking for a versatile, pro-active, innovative Buyer ready to propel FOM to the next level. We need someone experienced in various product categories, particularly shoes, bags and accessories. Our ideal candidate isn’t bound by convention – instead, they’re a creative and strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a fast-paced setting without reliance on advanced systems or rigid structure. This role isn’t your typical Buying position – it’s an opportunity to pioneer and innovate for one of South Africa’s most sought after, premium brands.
What will you be responsible for?
- Formulate seasonal strategies based on trade, market trends and guidance from design team
- Conceptualise, build and deliver balanced and exciting ranges to the FOM customer
- Source new suppliers (international and local) and build meaningful long-term relationships
- Effectively manage and refine critical path processes
- Supply chain management across a variety of manufacturing countries
- Price negotiation and margin management
- Collaborate with QA to deliver high quality premium products to the SA market
- Overseas travel when required to manufacturers, trade shows and buying trips
- Work closely with planning team to analyse sales, effectively manage OTB, and continuously drive growth through innovation
- Provide input to marketing team to ensure optimal merchandising strategy in stores and online
What you bring
- Minimum 5 year’s experience in Buying
- Knowledge of Retail buying processes
- Strong business acumen and merchant thinking
- Problem solver with critical thinking mindset
- Strong organisation and time management skills, ability to prioritise and maximise productivity

- Attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally with different departments
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Keen to take initiative and drive change
- Proficient in Microsoft excel and Powerpoint
