After walking only 200m in these shoes in Stellenbosch Central, the EVA foam sole was already really badly damaged on the front. It was all scratched up on both the beige and the pink band part. Because of the hard scratches, it wouldn't be possible to effectively clean the shoe and keep it clean. This is only after 200m, I can't imagine how bad it would look after 2 months.
I went to the FOM Stellenbosch branch and was told that they would send the shoe in for Quality Assurance, since they could not take a shoe back that has been worn outside (which is understandable). The whole QA process in store is not effective at all, since I had to ask the lady working at twice if I could get some kind of "record" that she is actually taking my shoe. Its been a week now and I still haven't received any communication about anything being logged with QA, and now even got the message to review the shoes.
There was also no opportunity from my side to even give the formal reasons for why the product needs to go through QA (written down somewhere on the POS or ERP system) which I thought was really insufficient.
I am really disappointed in this shoe, as it is definitely not at all the quality I expect at the R1600 price-point. I can definitely compare the EVA sole getting damaged to buying shoes from a value retailer like PEP or Ackermans instead of a premium brand like FOM.
